CLIMB MAEBASHI OFFICE 

Located just in front of Maebashi station, Gunma, which suffers from depopulation, CLIMB is an office interior project for a system engineering consultant. We were commissioned to create a workplace for fifty system engineers converted from a department store. We wanted to create a welcoming, flexible and comfortable office in the 736 sqm former department store space which had depressive lighting and very few windows.

Entering the glass wall entrance via waved woolen grey curtains, you will find the “main street” accessible to everyone, which stimulates communication beyond departments. We designed spaces for employees who need more security for their clients without separating them from others. With a tight budget in mind, we tried to utilize the existing features such as the columns, floors and ceilings as much as possible. To erase roughness while retaining some texture, we applied a silver color to the columns and brought this color into the grey-scale gradation.
