Karimoku Commons Tokyo Showroom “envision”

This project was responsible for the exhibition and spatial composition at “Karimoku Commons Tokyo” in Minato-ku, Tokyo. 

The showroom is updated twice a year with the aim of exposing visitors to new Karimoku activities and providing a place for communication and events.

The theme is “envision”. We proposed a layout highlighting productive “places” within everyday life.

In developing the layout, we gave the second and third floor show spaces distinct identities, each designed as a coworking space and a private office.

On the second floor, envisioned as a coworking space, we curated a lineup of lounge chairs and sofas to create places where people can spend time alone or work while keeping a comfortable distance from others. We carefully considered the placement, adjusting orientation and height to guide lines of sight, and creating a comfortable environment.

On the third floor, designed as a private office space, we customized Karimoku New Standard Workstations to W3200×D1600 and D1200 to support more focused work. By combining them with task chairs, we explored new possibilities for Karimoku Furniture within contemporary working environments. Additional elements such as window-side counter desks and casually accessible sofas were incorporated to enhance comfort and usability, aiming to emulate the experience of a ”functioning office”.

Styling of accessories and small items—indispensable elements in composing a workplace—was carried out in collaboration with Shunsuke Kato of NOTA&design, expressing the diverse layers of an office environment.

Through this project, we hoped to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience Karimoku Furniture’s new approach to creating inspiring workspaces.
