Kakao piccoma   vol.1

Kakao piccoma  ‘People are at the heart of IT.’ Interior design project for an office for Kakao piccoma Corp, known for operating the digital manga and novel service Piccoma. The office is located in the new Azabudai Hills Mori JPTower, which opened at the end of November 2023, with approximately 250 people working on one building floor.

Kakao piccoma Corp is a fast-growing company that launched its services under a new structure in 2016. Before the move, they had an office near Nogizaka Station but had repeatedly increased the floor space in the same building as their business had grown. As a result, departments existed across multiple floors in the same building, and naturally occurring communication between departments became less frequent. The company’s message is that ‘People are at the heart of IT’, and in relocating its head office to Azabudai Hills, Kakao piccoma Corp desired to create an office on a single floor where the company could ‘grow together’.

We decided to consider elements with an overall grey color scheme for the interior, using ‘friendly grey’ as a keyword. In addition to originally designed fixtures, the interior design features a wide range of beautiful products.

The offices surround an elevator hall running through the center of the building and shared facilities. The southwest-facing entrance has a large reception desk area finished in a pleasant textured grey. Past the reception area, there is a shared space with an expanding view over Tokyo. The layout of this curved, naturally lit, and comfortable area is carefully designed so that employees can quickly gather and talk with each other or have small meetings. In addition, the furniture was selected to make it easy to change the space flexibly in anticipation of workshops, lectures, and events.
